What this project needed
RCG runs structured three-month internship programs across sixteen domains in technology, business, finance, engineering and management. The website had to do two jobs well: explain the program clearly to a student deciding whether to enrol, and route that student to enrolment without friction. Everything else — the blog, the legal pages, the company profile — supports those two jobs.
How the site is built
- Custom PHP and MySQL. No third-party page builder. The application is a small MVC codebase with a front controller, a pattern router and prepared-statement data access.
- Section-based pages. Each page is assembled from reusable content blocks — hero, process, program grid, phases, checklist, call to action, contact — that an administrator can reorder, disable or edit without touching code.
- Admin panel. Site settings, branding, contact details, the program catalogue, blog posts, media, navigation, SEO fields and enquiries are all editable from a logged-in dashboard.
- Conditional display. Fields that are left blank hide the interface they belong to rather than rendering an empty block, so an incomplete configuration never produces a broken page.
Performance and media
Uploaded images are validated by their actual file signature, capped at one megabyte, and converted into WebP plus narrower responsive widths on upload, so the browser downloads the smallest version that fits. Static assets are cache-busted through a version token that the administrator controls.
Search and structured data
Every page carries editable meta title, description, canonical URL, robots directive and Open Graph fields. The XML sitemap is generated from published content, and structured data is emitted only for the fields that are actually filled in — an incomplete organisation profile produces no partial schema.
Security
Authentication uses hashed passwords with a forced change on first login, CSRF tokens on every state-changing form, rate limiting on login and on the public enquiry form, strict upload validation, and application directories placed outside the served path.
